Did you try putting a small amount of sugar in their water? I read somewhere that it can give them an energy boost after the stress of shipping.

Yes, I tried all the things
First they had grow gel upon arrival, they were given water and chick food shortly after. Then I have them sugar water, and then NutriDrench.
The 1st & 3rd death didn’t surprise me as much - they were runts and lethargic from the start. However, the 2nd death was a chick who seemed very healthy and lively the first day or so. She only started showing symptoms yesterday afternoon, and died at 1am.

I'd try a different thermometer in your brooder just to make sure.

I have 2 thermometers in there! Doing my best to keep it between 94-97. Chicks seem very comfortable. Of course, now I am finding old thread on dying chicks from Meyer! Wish I had done more research.

I am sorry for your losses. I know you and your son must be so upset and disappointed.
Not unusual to lose a few chicks with shipping, but this does sound like a very different situation. Hopefully you figure it out. Not only should Meyer refund you but they should also send replacements for free.

Understandable. I have had chicks sent from Murray McMurray all the way to Hawaii. I have had very good experiences with them. If you check their website just over 3 weeks before hatch many breeds will be available. I was even able to order cream legbars this way which are otherwise rarely available.

Thank you for the info! You are one of many I have heard say they had a great experience with McMurray! I will have to use them next time.
