2 Crazies setting Buckeye eggs today--anyone want to join?

Got my 2 dozen Buckeye eggs from JamesA this morning about 11:30 AM.Got them inside and unpacked then found 3 that were cracked but James gave me 1 extra so I still have 22 good eggs.
I let them warm up a few hours to room temperature while the bator was getting warmed up and set them at 2:30 PM so tomorrow at 2:30 PM will be day one.

The eggs were big and James did a good job with the packing. When I candle around day ten I will know more about what kind of trip they had in the mail system.
I still have 3 more shipments coming from different sources and will have 2 bators going soon and yes they are all Buckeyes. This hatching thing really is addicting.
I will keep everyone updated as I go along but, only if I make it through this.

GOOOOO!!! BUCKEYES!!!

Wow Chipper, that is a lot of Buckeyes! I am actually thinking about order 2 dozen more to get my stock up so I can have a lot of choices for breeders. That would put me at 4 dozen ordered. This hatching thing is definitely addictive.

That's why I ordered so many to start out with.I found out with my RIRs that the really good ones are rare, even when they do come from good stock.
I've always felt,if you are going to breed them, breed the good ones.

I agee chipper. It doesnt cost more to feed good birds either! I am glad you recieved your eggs.I hate a few were broken.

Tomorrow (Monday), I need to move some other eggs out of the Sportsman, and into the hatcher. Since I will have the Sportsman open, I will go ahead and candle the Buckeyes. They will be on day 10, so should candle easily.

Kathy I jumped a day ahead of you and candled the eggs I got from Laura Haggarty today.Out of 15 eggs I have 7 and maybe eight developing. Not outstanding results but shipping can be a gamble and I should still get some nice birds out of them.

Hi James,

Sorry you didn't get more candle fertile. Let me know how they do!

Laura (Haggarty, btw.)

I do not blame you at all.Shipping is tough on eggs and I am looking at 50% which is in my eyes acceptable with shipped eggs.

If I get 5-7 chicks I will be happy with them and can start my 2nd line with this start.I am still excited about the hatch upcoming.
