2 Day Old Chick Drowned

All you can do is learn from the experience and move on. I know, easier said then done.

All waters in a brooders or out with mommas have marbles in them for the first week, at least they do now. A few years ago I had a cardboard brooder in the living room and was setting in the floor watching some chicks that were 4-5 days old. While one was drinking, another came through and bounced across it like chicks do all the time. The bouncer shoved the drinker's head into the water. The little thing must have took a breathe right them. I grabbed it immediately, but it was too late. It opened it's little mouth to try a breath and was gone.

I feel so bad for you, but please don't blame yourself, how were you to know it would rain and that the chicks would get out! Just something very sad that happened.
