2 day old chick with odd poo

This morning I caught Gru trying to peck and eat at the normal chick crumb but still I'm going to feed it some mash til he gets the hang of it. his eye was open this morning I thought it was closed up but when I gently whistled both popped open, think he's to use to me holding him as he tried to go up my sleeve for a nap I think LOL.

Sounds like he's making progress. Sometimes chick crumb is still a little large for very small chicks to handle. Offering a wet the mash is a good idea - mine love it and I provide both dry and wet for chicks and adults.

Well I have been totally busy this afternoon and evening and totally forgot to give Gru his mash feed this afternoon:hit:he

Went up to give him is normal feed after change their drinking water and adding some poultry tonic (it can be used for chicks I have 2 brands now lol) but went to feed him his vitamin add chick mash and found he had a bit of poo stuck to him bum so washed it all off and then went to feed him, he would not eat and he just nestled into my hand and chest.

I then started thinking he was going down hill after seeing him try to eat the chick crumb and drink their water. I gently stroked his neck (he likes it quite funny really) and felt like his crop was full and guess what! it was full he has been eating the chick crumb when I was not feeding him so duh thats why he was more interested in sleeping on me now lol.

:) Little stinker is sneaking around eating without you!
I'm glad to hear that he is eating own his own and is improving.
