2 day old roo eyes closed

I got a delaware rooster yesterday, (friday april 24th). Today I noticed his eyes were closed. Like they were stuck closed. I took a warm rag and wiped his eyes and he was able to open them again. Has anybody else ever had this happen? Is there a way to prevent it? And what causes it?

He's doing great. 4 weeks old now I think. I used a warm rag to wipe his eyes for a couple days and after that he was fine.
