A big thank you to everyone for replying! I will stop the pellet/crumble and go back to the starter/grower and get oyster shells for them. It hurts losing them and I wish I knew better. Thank you!

No you’re not!!It’s a pellet/crumble and I still have some starter/grower. The feed store told me to start the pellet/crumble now. I’m sorry! I’m a horrible chicken mom!
It’s not your fault!!A big thank you to everyone for replying! I will stop the pellet/crumble and go back to the starter/grower and get oyster shells for them. It hurts losing them and I wish I knew better. Thank you!
X 2. Even if it's not the food, things happen sometimes, an improper diet will make them prone to illness.I would still switch to something else. You shouldn’t mix the scratch in with the feed and also little chicks should not be eating layer feed. That should not start until you see the first egg or some people never feed it and just stick with starter/grower or Flockraiser with free choice oyster shell. Please switch them over to a proper feed ASAP and cut the scratch out. I think that will help.
No oyster shells until they start to lay.A big thank you to everyone for replying! I will stop the pellet/crumble and go back to the starter/grower and get oyster shells for them. It hurts losing them and I wish I knew better. Thank you!
They just started the feed yesterdayNo you’re not!!I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel bad or anything.
everybody has to start somewhere! I didn’t know these things at first either and it’s natural to want to trust somebody you think would know!!! Unfortunately most feed store employees don’t really know much.
although usually the smaller/local ones are better than chains like say TSC haha
How long have they been on this feed? If they were on starter/grower before or it’s a recent change then they shouldn’t have gotten deficient that fast but![]()
I think some of them might be close maybe? They appear to be mixed ages. But yeah I’d wait till they lay but free choice on the side I don’t think the chicks would eat it? ButNo oyster shells until they start to lay.
Hmm I doubt that is what killed them then! I would still switch back though just to be safe. And no problem! Glad to help! They just started the feed yesterdayI really appreciate the help and your help has been amazing!
Me too. The chicks don't mess with it.I think some of them might be close maybe? They appear to be mixed ages. But yeah I’d wait till they lay but free choice on the side I don’t think the chicks would eat it? ButI have it out for mine all the time even though I have a broody and chicks atm
