2 different hatch dates in 1 incubator help ?

Hey !

So i have 7 eggs in my incubator ( ill post photo ) and 1 egg is due to hatch 8 days before my 2nd lot of eggs , buying a new incu is out of the question and ive seen posts where its not suggested to do a staggered hatch .

So ive thought about taking the 2 back rotating rollers out and placing a bit of cloth down along with a bit of cardboard as a wedge between the different eggs so that 1 can hatch without affecting the others ?
Would that work ?

Edit : i had to improvise and plug the 2 holes as it wasnt holding humidty overnight and it works lol

Edit #2 - what about temp etc on lockdown for egg #1 will i just keep it the same ?

How have you got on? I’m in a quandary..4 eggs in the incubator then given six eggs from a neighbour 5 days later… I think easier if I take the original four out and put under broody hen!

I did that, I had 4 of my 11 eggs that have a week or two to go from the others. The development when candling looked like the ones under my hen so I stuck them under her...

Went well , i just cut a bit of carboard to size to section off the other eggs and lay some kitchen roll down , i now have 6 healthy happy ducks
