Hello all you experts out there :)

I got these two Easter Eggers from Rural King as a chicks, and now I'm wondering what breeds the parents were.

Any clues?

thanks!

Ok, so you think they are Ameracana x Cream Legbar?

One of them lays green eggs, the other one, very light brown ones (my kids call it pinkish)

The one is such a beautiful Red color, could it have some RIR in it?

Yes. Or New Hampshire red, speckled sussex, red sex link, etc. It’s hard to narrow down exactly what went into a cross, especially if the cross is multigenerational (which I’m guessing is the case here).

Most Easter Eggers have a mother and a father who are Easter Eggers. The hatcheries have been breeding Easter Eggers for years. So yours are probably not a simple mix of pure breeds.

Any clues?

Many Easter Eggers look like wanna-be Ameraucanas, but yours do not.
The combs on yours look a lot like the combs on Cream Legbars, so they might have Legbar somewhere in their ancestry.

To lay blue or green eggs, most Easter Eggers trace back to Araucanas, Ameraucanas, or Cream Legbars (all of which lay blue eggs.) But any purebred ancestors might be many generations ago.

No. They’d have muffs if they were Ameraucana mixes.

Ok, thanks for all the feedback! Nice to know at least a bit of their history :)
