2 eggs, 4 eggs, 2 eggs...

That is our pattern.

Out of 6 hens, we have a 2 egg day, 4 egg day, 2 egg day.

Are 4 laying every other day and then the other 2 laying every other day, or what?

I just want to make sure I don't have any getting egg bound...especially like my little one, Feather, who just recovered from a vicious dog attack about a month ago.

I know I've seen Heidi, Domino, Daredevil, Blackfoot, and Bright Eyes nesting...but not Feather.

So, that's why I'm confused as to who is laying or not.

Feather now becomes "submissive" to me like I was a rooster...so I'm assuming she's becoming her normal adult self now...but I'm still at a loss of who the eggs are coming from, because Heidi and Domino, especially, would lay every day last year.

Heidi, Domino, and Bright Eyes are last year's pullets...they're about 1.5 years now, the rest were born June of last year if that helps.

Ideas?

It could be the pattern, or you could have 2 laying daily and 2 every second day. Only way to know is watch to see who is in the nest boxes.

It is not uncommon for a hen to lay every other day.

The 3 polish pullets I had laid 3 then 2 then 0 then 3 again. It was just a pattern with them. It is a perfect world when every hen lays one egg every day. I like those perfect world days alot! LOL

My Polish pullet will lay in the morning, then the next day lay in the afternoon, then skip the next day and start the pattern over again the next morning. My Buff orp just started laying last week but has been laying every day in the morning.

I still have three other pullets currently free loading. One is a 30 week Polish and the other two are 26 week Buff Orpingtons. They are squatting though...

If you catch all your chickens one at a time and check the space between the two bones you feel under the feathers near the vent you can tell who is laying and who is not. If they are standard sized chickens and you can fit at least two fingers between those bones, they are laying. Many of my hens lay every other day.
