2 eggs from first time laying pullet??

Quote:
I went outside one morning (i had only 1 brown layer at the time). There were no brown eggs, then i checked in the afternoon and found 2 brown eggs. There is no possible way for my hen to hid the egg because i have a laying box which has only a thin layer of straw.

yes she layed 1 and then got up for about half an hour then went back and popped out another

My Australorp laid two perfect eggs on her first ever day of laying, within an hour of each other. :) None of my others started laying for at least a month afterwards.

We went from 1 egg a day to 4 eggs a day. Of course, this happened while we were on vacation, but three of our girls did lay their first egg on the same day. I only wish I could have been there!

It's uncommon, but definitely not "rare". A quick check of the threads on here reveals quite a few just in our small section of the chicken raising community.

not so sure its true....just how fast do you think a chicken can whip out another egg after it already laid one???....lets be real guys!!!........
it takes time to produce and egg....they may think the chicken laid 2 eggs.....but unless there are sitting there watch,
im not sure they are correct....they just may think the chicken is a SUPER CHICKEN EGG LAYER!!!!!.....

I understand your scepticism, but you are wrong.

Often the second egg is malformed, soft shelled, or tiny.... in my case they were both perfect. And yes, I am certain they were from the same hen. Considering these were her first eggs, I assume the first was "stuck" somehow at the vent end while the other egg was being produced, resulting in two being laid the next morning.

I don't think she is a super chicken. I think she produced two eggs over two days, but laid them both in one morning.
