I know this sounds strange but is it possible for a hen to lay two eggs in one day? Yesterday when I fed my five hens at 7:00 a.m. there was a fresh warm BC Marans egg. At lunch time I went to gather eggs and there were four more, making my five for the day. At 6:30 p.m. I went to make sure everyone was ready for bed and found another egg ( still warm) on the floor of the coop! The hens are just 6 months old.
