My 9 month old cochin is just getting the hang of laying her eggs, and this morning she was in her laying box for three hours-I thought we had a problem...her "sister" was out in the back yard giving her some privacy. When she finally hopped out of the box, there were two eggs! They were both warm, same temperature, and one was a bit smaller than the other. She did lay one yesterday. They usually take a day or two off a week, and since I only have two chickens, it's easy for me to keep track. Could she really have laid two eggs in one sitting? Man, talk about a backup!

It's possible, but they were separated for the morning. I guess if Vivienne sat on the other one for so long, it may have warmed up to the same temperature as her body, but I didn't see her sister go to the nesting box. However, she did not lay an egg that day, so she could have slipped it in at some point. Just so fun seeing two eggs at once!
