Some of my chickens have started to lay eggs! Yeah!
My question is can one chicken lay 2 eggs ?
I have 6 chickens that are laying age and one or some have started to lay eggs. So far I am getting 2 eggs every other day. I have only seen one in the nest box. Could one chicken be laying 2 eggs? One egg is medium brown and the other is lighter brown and both are small in size.

I bet they are from diff chicks. Somebody is sneaking in there when you are not looking. My hens eggs all look a little bit diff. It is supposed to take around 25 hours for each egg to form. Mine lay a little later each day and then miss a day. Then start again.

yep that's right on for how long eggs take to develop. It is true for my flock too, that every hen lays different eggs. Shape, color, and size vary with all the hens.

Pullet eggs will be smaller than hen eggs, but they are just as good to eat. They don't work quite as well for deviled eggs, but it can be done.

alright I know whos laying the eggs now!
It is my smallest(go figure) RIR and my Black Austrolop.
Those are the only 2 that I have seen in the nest boxes.
I have 4 nest boxes and they are both laying their eggs in the same one. I guess they like that one.

Yep mine always lay in the same nest. They stand there and harass the one laying trying to get her out so they can get in. Sometimes 3 or 4 waiting at the same time.
