2 embryo in 1 egg? Please look at picture

They are low man on the pole as far as relocation goes and according to my friend at TWRA you can't do a live catch and release with otters they will stay until they destroy your fish population and since our pond turned over last year our fish population is at the rebuild stage which is why the baby ducks are getting eaten. They won't capture anything that is larger than their heads so my big ducks are safe. I'm down to 2 Mallards now :( what a bummer

I'm so sorry. I know how I'd feel if it was one of my Bantams. The Otters are just doing what otters do so now you just have to do what you need to do and make the otters go away as they will decimate your duck population. I don't know what the hunting regs are where you live but right now otters are in season for hunting here. Time to make them go bye bye

I feel like an unofficial grammy to those babies so my first instinct is to grab my hunting rifle and go otter hunting. I'm glad Ray is safe as are the calls.

that stinks, fish and game should be able to help you trap and relocate them

Hubby is down at the pond with his surpresed rifle right now, he asked if I wanted to join him on an otter hunt but I am not feeling very good at all today so I had to opt out :(
Trust me he doesn't like seeing me cry and after the fit I threw after I saw the one go under all it took was me cursing like a sailor as I tried to get on the canoe and paddled out to try and save the duck (stupid logic I know) he told me to get inside , take insulin because clearly my sugar was high if I exploded like that and rest he would kill the otters... I swear we need a reality show...

So today didn't go as planned, I went to have the port put in and because my blood work wasn't great they decided against it at least until my platelet count was higher (I am not a Dr and have no idea how or why that determines whether or not to have a surgical procedure but it does) so for now I will continue having the infusions via an IV , just a small hump in the road. I won't lie, I know you all think I'm so tough and strong but I didn't take the news very well at all and came home and cried by myself sitting with the ducks at the pond. I wanted so badly to call my mom and tell her everything that was happening but we don't have a very functional relationship so I just vented to the ducks. The most amazing thing happened as I was sitting there with tears freezing down my face. Ravyn swam over to me and without fear sat right at the end of my foot. I was so shocked I didn't dare move and then a few moments later he climbed up into my lap nuzzled up and shut his eyes. I was FREAKING out!! You all know the struggles I have had with these ducks and now 1 of them is in my lap, wtheck is going on!!! I say there for probably an hour and then walked back up thinking our love fest was over. Nope. In tow right at my feet was Ravyn aka Ray since it's a boy..We came up and I was able to bend down and without fear this duck stepped right into my hands and let me pick him up!!! I can't make this up!! I'm still in shock and a state of confusion over this duck deciding I wasn't the enemy at all. He's still with me inside just laying here.... I am happier than I have been in a long time....

Oh my goodness... That is so amazing... Just incredible. :love

So sorry you couldn't get the port in.... Just keep at it.... You got this, girl!!

I saw something about you losing some ducks :( what happened... :( I was so sad to read that...

Lost 2/3 of my babies in a mink attack the end of December.... Last one left is currently in my basement. Her leg got frostbit before I found her, coz due to a thigh wound she couldn't cover it. She can't walk on it but she's getting along ok on her one web.

She scrambled several feet the other day on her one leg just to come sit on my lap. Love that precious girly :love

Oh, I'm so sorry. That must have been hard. At least you have one left, though! Hope she heals up.

That is precious, I am so sorry that you lost 2 of your babies but I'm glad one of them was able to make it, Ravyn has a duck with one leg and I think she gets along just fine :) I am sure she can give you advice on that.
