2 first eggs in one day wahoo!!

Both of our red sex links decided today was the day.
Came back from working on my next door neighbours barn around 4:00 pm. Did a head count in the run and came up one chicken short. Checked the coop and found one of our red sex links buried in the shavings under a raised watering platform in the corner. The other red sex link came in the coop and tried to get in the first ones nest(so much for the built with loving care grand nesting boxes)sic. i tried to shoo out the second hen. They both hopped out. surprise!

Went to the house to show DW. Had to fry it. The rir roo been working it. the little beauty was fertile.Proud moma

Went back out to the coop because I heard a hen and the roo making a heck of a racket. Well red sexlink #2 is in the nest with hen #1 and the roo cheering her on. Wish my cell phone camera had a flash

I got a pic as she layed her first egg but its realy hard to see. Just can't beleave I got lucky enought to see it happen

BTW the girls are a couple of days shy of 4 months old.

That is awesome! I am jealous! I have to wait till NOV!

it took my girls two weeks for me to get more than one egg a day. yesterday and today I got three eggs and all of them are using the same nest of course it is not the ones we built for them............they are laying under it............LOL

That's so cool! My girls are 16 wks this coming wednesday. I am starting to look around a bit more when I check the feeder & waterer every day

Wow, that one egg looks real dark.

How old are your red sex links. I have one that is 16 weeks now... the rest of my chicks are 13 weeks.

Ours are the same age 3 brown, 2 black. 2 just started laying, we get medium ones now.

My girls range from 10-16wks. I'm thinking about putting in their nesting boxes sometime in the next couple weeks. I can't wait for that first egg!

UP DATE First egg day +1 Found a first egg from one of my other brown egg layers 2 rir or black sexlink when I opened the coop this morning.
