2 harems 1 rooster?

Hi all
I have 11 chickens who I keep in separate coops with separate runs 9 in one, 2 in another (i know, spoiled right?) due to fighting (9 rescued reds from factory are quite vicious, and almost killed my little silkie and sussex)

I have just got a rooster to "mediate" my 9 rescue reds

We won't be having babies

Question is. Can I split the roosters time between coops?

I would not. The ten will make a family and that should be enough hens for him. RIR do not go broody.

I agree, if you don't want chicks, no need in upsetting the apple cart. Put him in there with the Reds, and leave him be. Chickens hate changes.

Is there a reason behind this?

Is it OK for him to mix with both lots of chickens when they're free ranging

Apple cart not yet loaded. He's new here and still in quarantine so not with any chickens yet

Am I OK to free range them all together?
And just put him to bed with the reds ?

there is an exception to that rule, and I own her

These arent RIR. Just standard laying red hens in France, not even a breed as i understand. (And I have one who is broody right now)
