I added 6 more to my flock this year. 4/6 are laying well but two haven't started, they are 7 months old. I have an EE that likes to lay anywhere besides the nest box so we have been keeping them all locked in for several days so I know they aren't laying elsewhere. One is an Americauna, the other was supposed to be an Aracauna but has tail feathers so I don't know what she is, maybe another EE? Anyway, anybody know why they wouldn't be laying yet?
Also, my 4 original hens, now 1.5 years old have all stopped laying. My Frizzle is broody a lot but hasn't been recently and still isn't laying. My Delaware completed a hard molt several weeks ago but still hasn't started back up. My Brahma lays every now and again but not regularly following a light molt. And my Leghorn is going through her second hard molt this year (poor girl).
We have added more nesting boxes, four total. They always have plenty of feed and fresh water. They normally free range unless one of them is laying somewhere else. But we have a huge run so even if they aren't free ranging, they have tons of space. And I even added curtains to the nest boxes. We use roll away nest boxes so I know they aren't eating the eggs. What else can I do or why are they not laying?
