2 Legged Predators - Got Us Again...

I'm so sorry what happened to you. If it were me I would line the ATV path with roofing nail's in case they come back. Then these punk kid's would have something else to do beside's bother your bird's. Maybe I'm wrong but I believe in payback. Good luck. PEACE

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your birds. It's just not right & they should really make these kids an example of if/when they're caught. When you had said you lost your "ringneck" was that pheasants? I'm just curious because I'd not long ago read of the "liberation" of birds at a persons farm who was breeding phesants.... I can't find the link that I had to it though. I think the idea of putting up a security camera is a great one & you might want to consider an electric fence too it would serve them right to grab hold & get a good old zap.

We were given three beautiful ringneck pheasants by a fellow BYC'er.

We started this year with 4 roos, 54 hens, and a guinea. We've hatched out 49 chicks and purchased 8. We were given the roo, Morgan and the 3 pheasants.

Of all those animals, we have our roo Morgan and 8 hens. That's it. I'm setting eggs right now, so hopefully I can get one more hatch before the season gets too late.

Since all this has happened, we've padlocked all the runs and spent money we didn't really have on three game cameras, which are padlocked to the trees around the run.

If anyone else comes around the coop, we'll have pictoral evidence.

No one has been charged or apprehended, so I'm pretty much seeing it as hopeless.

Plus, with next pay, we are investing in 2 of these:
http://www.shomer-tec.com/product/alarm-signaling-device-258.cfm Very cool stuff. These were recommended by another BYC'er.

The .12 gauge sits above the back door with a box of rock salt rounds and a box of high brass .00 buck shot.

I will not lose anymore animals.

Oh wow, is that cool. Give someone a good scare if they wander where they shouldn't be.

good for you!!! With all the animal/natural preditors we have to guard/protect our domestic animals from the last thing we need is the HUMAN kind? It's ridiculas.

Mangled, I'm so sorry! I kinda know what your going through, we had a problem with someone always letting our hunting hound dog out of our yard (we didnt use him for hunting we rescued him from the humane society) but couldnt figure out who was doing it. The dog catcher knew us and would always bring him home. Several others in put neighborhood had gates that would mysteriously open. Finally my husband caught a group of rowdy youngins' opening a couple of peoples gates and letting their dogs out so he called the sheriffs dept. Well He was subpeoned (sp) today and goes to court next week...I hope you find out who did this and good luck!

I'm sorry and angry right along with you that this happened. So sad about the roo and chicklets that died. I hope fervently you can at least find the remaining lost hens unharmed.
