2 legged theif at FAIR!!

My first show was a fair and there was a sign up sheet where we all took turns feeding and watering and cleaning cages. It was in August and hot! I could not possibly be there 3 times a day to check on them so the volunteer system was incredibly helpful. We were all familiar with poultry and were responsible people. I don't know why anyone would freak out at the thought of someone else giving their bird water. Baffles the mind. I was incredibly appreciative. If you're that skiddish about your pets, then why on earth put them in a fair???? Keep them home where youy can be happy and healthy knowing they are safe

eta: this is not directed to the op but to folks who are concerned with people interacting with their poultry. It is a fair and there are people cruising the isles constantly. ...inexperiened chicken people at that. Folks will tease, poke, etc. The volunteers are the last ones you should be worrying about.

i take my young kids to the fairs all the time, they know not to reach in and touch animals with out asking. i take a large bottle of hand sanitizer with me every time we go, lots of people in our are dont mind it if you want pet goats or sheep and such if they come up to you at the side of the pen , but we always ask permision first and sanitize hands before and after we pet someones animal. my 4 year old wont tuch an animal with out sanitizing first. he went to wool festival with my mother inlaw and the lady showing one of the wooly bunnies (dont know what there called ) asked him if he wanted to pet it , he started crying because my mother inlaw did not take hand sanitizer had my son told her "you cant touch if you have germy hands!" the lady was so impressed she said "dont wory i have some!" he was so happy.

I agree Msbear. My brother went around topping everyones water off.( even though he did it so he didnt have to help me clean the pens.) I saved a meat bird because of no water. I dont care if people water them... just taking the eggs.

A friend of mine was showing her ducks and someone took the first eggs, but didn't get a second chance.
Since my son was showing rabbits I was in that building with her ducks constantly. I kept a watch on the eggs and other rabbits.
Had trouble the year before with people opening the rabbit cages and taking them out.

Going to be back again this year.

Our fair here in S. Florida, South Florida Fair, so aptly named, sells them for $3.00 a dozen. All different sizes, and they go like hot cakes too!

Yeah that is what I do. I educate. I get my birds out for people to let them pet it. My brother was taking my duck out of its cage without permission( hes 11 so he knows better) and he wonered why I was mad. People caant respect other peoples things.
