I'm not familiar with the details of how a bob cat kills, but back bites would indicate a animal larger than a chicken. Fox often catch the back. It is odd that birds were left behind. That can be a sign of a domestic predator, but the small track you found is likely from a wild predator. (Sorry my eyes are not good enough to identify the track).

Thank you for trying it is a small track but someone had mentioned, which hadn't thought about, is its smooshed because it's wet muddy ground cause we're still trying to dry out from Hurricane Milton. Our rescue which my friend runs is a muscovy sanctuary and our friends have their flock of all kinds of ducks, geese, guineas (only have one left) 😢💔 and chickens. The predator is just picking them off and unfortunately they're in a corral right now because our pen, which was closed in and safe, got damaged by the hurricane as well. So this has been a tough one for us because on top of that our babies are going through this as well.

You said you’re near a pond? Could it be a mink? I believe larger weasels live near water. I can’t tell how many toes were on the track (they have 5 I think) but they would be small and they kill more than they can eat often I believe. I also think they go for the neck. I’m sorry your going through this!

We do have a pond but it's going to the other side of the property to kill my babies. Are they strong enough to pick a guinea up you think? They're also biting the back which I'm sure you read that already I'm just so appreciative for people that are responding because it's definitely a huge help

I’m not super familiar with Mink but I’ve seen a small short tail weasel kill and drag off a bunny during the day right in front of me and my kids and a mink is much bigger. I also know they will kill anything they think they can eat but in the end don’t always manage to drag them off. Was it close to the back of the neck? What did the wound look like? A mink will leave closely spaced pairs of canine teeth marks usually by the neck or skull. They are apparently notorious for leaving what they kill behind. People liken their tracks to a kittens. Was there any scent ever? I hope this helps!
