2 Little giant Incubators + EXTRAS!

I don't mean to be a kill joy, but even at $90, it's not a bargain. Personally I'm not going to pay a premium for something I could just gone down to TSC and bought myself for 40% less, and not have to pay shipping either... That's just me.

My advice to you is to ebay them if you can't get them sold here. I just don't see chicken-savvy people who are in the 'know' about incubators paying a premium for a LG with no turner and no fan when they can just order it online from someone else for a lot less, OR get it from their local TSC for what you paid for it, and truck down to their local Walmart to get the Accurite for $12 and the ww for < $1. On ebay you could write up a really catchy description and hopefully at least get your investment back out of it.

Opening the box makes it 'used' in a lot of people's minds - even if you just opened it to adjust and test it. A store still would consider it used merchandise if you try to return it.

(Hopefully you kept your receipts for TSC and can get your money back if you can't get them sold, and they will take them even with the box opened...)

Buying anything at retail cost with the intent of reselling for a profit it is a risky proposition at best.

Of course if you can't get them sold...you can always fill them up with eggs!!

If it were me, that would be my ploy to get new bators....gee honey, let's get these and see if we can resell them on BYC....Ah...Darn....they didn't sell....Guess I'll just have to fill them up with eggs and use them myself....

That Accurite was $8 over at Walmart where i live...Water wiggler I got for 0.50... and I think the LG at our Feed stores in town are $30 something? If you had Both at one firm price with it all that would be a DEAL! I say like the rest, try putting them on Ebay, good luck.

The incubator at TSC here is $42.

The thermometer/hydrometer at almart is $12.

The water wiggler is 88 cents.

The sponges look used. They should be thrown out. They will harbor bacteria if they have ever been wet and put in the incubator -even without eggs.

At best the 'package' brand new is worth about $55.

The turner at TSC is also $42.

Brand new never used is about $97 with a turner.

You are not offering a turner so your deal is way over priced.

If you had listed these on ebay a few months ago when the market was hot you could have gotten what you’re asking. Not everyone is willing to do the work of buying all those things separate or willing to research them. My suggestion, hold on to them and list them on ebay next year. But still toss the used sponges people are more willing to dish out money if the listing pictures are pretty. So take pictures with a clean background and new sponges.

I asked for pictures of the inside, my personal opinion is they HAVE been used. The one picture does show something (stain) inside the one bator.

I'm confused as to why a person buys them, tests them, and then tries to sell them?

And the used sponges - where they just used in a test, and why - there isn't a hygrometer being offered.

I'm seeing more and more "for sale" items on BYC that seem to be targeting folks who are not 100% sure of things, eggs (un-proven) with crazy price tags etc....

I for one don't want to see someone from BYC being taken advantage of.

I agree with you. Plus the price didn't change from post #1 to post #7. Both prices are $90. Something smells fishy to me. Maybe the bator.

feathersacres---Maybe if you sold the entire package (2 bators and 2 of the other stuff) you might get $90. you also need to change the title because we can see by the pics they do not look "brand" new.

Why would you purchase 2 bators and everything you need to hatch, run them for 5 days then sell them? Doesn't make sense to me. Why didn't you use them to hatch eggs?

The bator on the right looks stained inside and the thermometer is discolored also. I'm also with MissPrissy, it's worth about $55 new.

Ahh well, DH had big plans that we were going to have our own little farm and
hatch every year to have our home grown chickens, after buying everything he had
a brain lapse and suddenly figured 'oh gee I forgot we wont have any room' and
that we werent going to have enough money to build anouther *Palace* like our
silkies have
big_smile.png
(These fluffy little buggers dont know how good they got it!) and
as we opened the boxes wondering what they really looked like we opened
the one and saw some stuff on it gee I dont know what it was and then cleaned
it up and bleached it down (We didnt know what it was and to tell you the truth
it looked like someone bought it from TSC used it then returned it!) I was going
to take it back but some dummy threw out the receit (Ughh!
hmm.png
) and then he suggested
doing this telling me dont worry about it I got it, and I came back to check and my
jaw dropped when I saw what he put for a price I smacked him and told him to
change it while I was out. I feel foolish let him do this (i'll know better next time
lol hes not touching my computer again
cool.png
). Before he had his brain lapse he
had them all set up and thats when he was testing them I guess?, half of this
im not sure of and I dont know why hes not on here typing to explain this to you
(He does this to me all the time!, hes at work right now :thun) But other then that
im truly sorry. Im about to fix this all up and get this reasonable, if any of you want
to bad talk him for me ill give you his e-mail address lol! that pushes my buttons when he does this!

Thanks for understanding!

The post originally had $130 (or was it $140, I can't remember) as the price. The OP went back and edited the first post to drop the price to $90.

Edit to add - just read the OP's last post.

Glad to see you realize why we were questioning this whole thing. Could be that someone else did buy the bator from TSC and used it and then took it back. Hmm... from the pic it looks like they also used your thermometer/hygrometer too.... interesting.

Ah well. Good luck selling them. You could probably get around $40-50 max for one bator as a USED set... No one will pay more than retail for used stuff (or stuff that APPEARS used...)
