My 2 month old peachicks living arrangements in our home is not working as much anymore. During the day I move them to a cage outside (if not raining) and then at night they go back inside. But I'd like to move them permanently outside in a bigger cage raised of the ground before their final transition to their pen. My worry is at night, is it too cool for them? Tonight is calling for 18c (64.4f) but during the weekend as low as 11c (51.8f). I never used a heat lamp for when I got them at 5 weeks old but they sleep inside perched cuddling together and during the day it's always warm.

The treads here I've been reading have been more about putting chicks on the ground or not and not about temperatures, especially at night.

They are fully feathered by this point and should be fine to go out although some acclimating with a heat lamp for the first few nights is a good idea. We try to get our on the ground as soon as possible, if you leave them on wire too long you will start to see broken toes and leg problems.

Thank you for responding! The cage does not have a wire floor, it’s flat surface with 1/2 inch of small cut up straw. We’ve also placed a slip free lining under the straw floor.

I'm in Eastern Ontario, Canada, with similar weather to you. I agree with KsKingBee's advice about a heat lamp for the first couple of nights, or you could add a roof and two sides, on a temporary basis, to the crate to give them protection from wind and rain.

Thank you, I updated my location. I'm in Moncton, New Brunswick (Canada). I did provide a crate and they have also a drop down plastic on the cage to protect when it's raining or windy.
