Ive searched and read about ducks molting, but I also read thats more along the 5 month+ line.
My girl is just about 2 months and a half and shes getting yellow feathers on her chest and face.
It seems as if new feathers are coming in but theyre coming in yellow. any idea why?

Is it that she's getting too much corn?
I also read something about light. Not sure what they meant about natural light or indoor light..?

Im nervous it may be malnutrition since her partner died 2 weeks ago. She seems like she may not be eating enough,
Im trying to put the puzzles together but I'm not sure which they are.
Here are some pictures.

Relax it is normal, and yes food has to do with it too. She is feathering in her first set of feathers, so I would not worry. Just make sure she is getting a balanced diet with 16% protein in it. You should still supplement her with vitamins/minerals weekly until 12 week of age, and after that once or twice per month for the rest of her life. She is a cutie.

So in this case, did food get her this way or is it her feathering??
I understand the whole thing u said but you also said "yes food has to do with it too"
how?

Corn is mixed into all the commercial feeds available at the stores. Flockraiser, Naturewise, etc have it. Corn is not the only thing that makes feathers yellow. There are a lot other natural pigments that will do that. One example is Marygold petals. Now you may think you are not feeding it, but you may inadvertently do. Layer feed very often has it, because it produces nice orange looking yolks. People associate that with "healthy" eggs, but it is only a visual thing.

Aaaaah ok...but dont worry about it coz the turn white after the feathers grow in. Elliot & Gemini are not nearly all white and their drake feathers is just starting to curl.

Wow, I learn something new everyday. Thanks!

I used to have a few Pekins & White Crested's, a couple of which were more yellow. I used to call them my little Butter Pekins, I thought the yellow ones were so much prettier than the white ones
