2 month old welsummer pullet sick, is it mareks?

cjpines, all people selling chickens tell you they don't have it. My silkie pullet that brought it came from a reputable breeder.
Whether you buy from someone or not, think about if your girls are worth the risk or not. Just get your vaccinated day old hatchery chicks. Or an incubator. You may have to sell roos as meat birds. I am being sincere and love my roos, but the reality is that I have 7 now because I didn't want to give them up. A forever home is less chance than 1%.
Good thoughts, Tks

Thank you for all of your helpful input.

After severely declining in health the last few days, my Flossie passed today. I am sad but not as bad as I thought I would be, as she is at least at peace now.

I want to know what happened to her! How can I send her to UC Davis? And since it is Sunday, is that still possible?

First, don't put her in the freezer. Put her in a plastic bag in the refrig. I'll send you the info on how to send to UC Davis.

Here is the directions and pictures for you sent by another blogger. Let me know if the web comes out? Also, she said to ask for the UC Davis Fed Ex number so you won't have to pay for shipping.
I'm so very sorry for your loss, you did everything you could. I would like to know your outcome at UC Davis because my Araucana had much the same symptoms and I wished I'd of sent her for necropsy.

Forgot to mention. Check with Casportpony in Gilroy, the person who sent me the web on necropsy. She probably will know if keeping Flossie in refrig until Monday or Tuesday will be okay. She has sent a few birds to UC and has knowledge. But, I would think keeping her in the refrig tightly sealed up would be okay for Mon or Tues.

Thank you so much for that link!!! I put her in a ziplock and then into a styrofoam cooler with ice packs. I hope this will do until tomorrow as hubby does not want her in the refrigerator.
I will call tomorrow to get their fed ex number and send her away. Do you know about how long it will take to hear the results?

Thanks again for everything. It really did help.

Sorry for your loss. In a cooler with ice pack should be fine. Shipping will not be free, but it will be cheaper. Small hens packed in a box under 5 pounds are ~$10, over 5 pounds are ~$20.

If you overnight tomorrow you will have a preliminary report by the end of Tuesday, then a final in a week or two.

Thank you for the info, I really appreciate it :)

I will get to fedex tomorrow morning and send her overnight. Though I think my box with styrofoam cooler with ice packs will be more than 5 pounds, though poor Flossie doesn't weigh much anymore. I really cannot wait to hear what happened to her. I feel so bad for her suffering in the end and I hope it will not repeat with my other birds...

I will definitely let you all know what the results are.

In the end she stopped being able to move around and sat in the same place. She could move her neck and her head but feebly. She refused to eat or drink, I got her to eat and drink a bit and did the best that I could. She slept most of the last two days and when I went to check on her this afternoon she was gone. I had checked on her about an hour beforehand. At this point I had to wash her bottom a few times a day because she was going to the bathroom all over herself. I've known for the last two days that she wasn't going to make it and wished I could end her suffering. I just couldn't do it. And I feel very guilty.
