Lol...no. I completed a classroom hatch with a friend...she wanted to start her flock of Bantam cochins..no hatching/chicken experience. She originally had all 8 chicks...but her friend wanted a pair without thinking it through...hence the 11 day vacation...sigh! So now the pair is being returned to the group and I am trying to help her with process. It's been years since I have integrated chickens and it has always been with a broody momma to help!Oh, so this is not at your place?

Thanks for sharing! I'm sure I am stressing out more than they will...lol!! They are such fun pets for usI had a similar situation, where I gave my sister a few chicks (when they were 4 weeks) and she gave a few back to me a week or two later...
I didn't over think it (to be honest, I didn't really consider any negatives) and just put them back together. Luckily everything was super easy and all were, and still are, very happy!
I think that the younger they are, the more accepting they are. The older they get, they seem to get a bit more "clicky" - lol.
Let us know how your story goes!![]()

Yes, my students LOVE to see the hatching process...and if course take care of the adorable babies! And yes...i rehome all my chicks that I do not keep.... no matter how long or many times that takes...lol! This is the first time i have had this situstion of getting them back! I usually have people asking in the beginning of spring and create a list...and just hatch a small group each yearI love it! I'm crazy about my chickens tooI have several teacher friends, and I help with their classroom hatches. I recently got a wonderful frizzle exbantam Cochin rooster and can't wait to hatch some of his offspring. The frizz-genetic odds make it really fun for the school kids!
(And of course, as I think you seem to be doing, I help the sweet chickies find homes after the project)
