Well, today I see we have some new predators around. Probably about 20-25 miles away. Canadian Lynx. 2 of them in the middle of the road in Belgrade. Caterwauling according to the locals. I only live about 60 miles from the Canadian border. I wonder how they got through customs. VBG. :p:p

Not sure where in Maine you are, but I know most areas have a healthy population of bobcats, which are just as opportunistic as lynx.

I've seen many bobcats in my area, and there's lynx in the Catskills and Adirondacks, which are not too far from me, but I've never spotted one in my area.

I read in the newspaper report of this incident that the government is thinking of taking the Canadian Lynx off the Endangered Species list. I live in West Central Maine. About sixty miles from the Canadian border. I thought the incident happened in Belgrade but it happened near Jackman. That's real close to the border. The thing about lynx is that they are a larger cat and probably could destroy a flimsy hen house. I found out there is a healthy hunting population ( humans) of raccoons around here so I think we have a smaller population of them.
