Well we were right after posting photos here. One of our lavendar banthams is male and 1 of our silkies. We live in a residential area and our daughter is devastated we are going to have to rehome them. As am I to be honest, I am very attached. I feel so sad :-( My dads friend lives in the countryside and has said he will have our boys as pets.

No point to this post but feeling so sad.

On a nice note, I am rescuing 2 caged hens this weekend. They are being rescued from slaughter and I am taking 2 of them. I think it's a lovely thing to do and as my daughter and I are veggie we feel good about ourselves. Maybe this will help my daughter.

Our silkie is Leonardo and the lavendar is Mango. I just adore Mango, he is the sweetest chicken, I am very tearful about him leaving. They both crow in the morning a little but are quiet in the day. Our neighbour complains about even a dog barking so we know we can't keep these boys. It's so sad.

I don't know how you feel about putting a contraption on your birds, but I ran across these the other day... My DH thought I was crazy; we don't have any neighbors to bug, but my daughter's 2 banty roos compete every morning driving me nuts.... These might help if you're really desperate ..

I hav mixed feelings on them.... Pricey.. But if they work, then totally worth it?

I love the blue one though, he's beautiful... :)

I am so so sorry to hear that. It is so easy to get attached to chickens (especially when you raise them from the begging). We had to teach my little sis that it is never 100%on the gender until the crow or lay. I'm glad you get to rescue hens tough :) rescuing is the best and you know 100% they are hens. One of my favorite chickens ever was a rescued Easter Egger chicken. I know you probably already have a plan to re home them but if it isn't to late I would like to mention that no-crow collars can work to help with crowing. Again I am very sorry to hear and I hope you and your daughter will love your hens :)

Thank you so much :)

It is so easy to get attached isn't it when you see them grow up.

I shall look into the no crow collars, I hadn't heard of those.

Thank you.
