Hello my name is Anastasia but you can call me Star. I recently got a new batch of rescue chicks. Ind of them i noticed, had a black foot. It isnt broken as she can walk on it, and I nursed a week old chick with a broken leg till healed. I Checked to see it anything was wrapped or caufht on ot but there was nothing. I cleaned it woth a drop of peroxide and now currently have her on my cheast as i dont have a heather; its been a year since i had chicks.
Does anyone have advise on how to csre for a chick with this injury?? I dont have a vet to look at my chick. I have raised 7 chicks indoors 2 years ago any they ate stil alive today. I've raised a chick with an unabsorbed embryo and ten toes but never with a black toe.

I think the peroxide treatment was good to kill off any bad infection/bacteria, on that toe. I'm not sure what else to suggest. Others may chime in with suggestions.
I don't see it as severe, and somehow think, the toe will heal on its own. I have had chickens live long lives with missing toes. Those were Cochin with feathered feet, that seemed to loose their toes during their lifetime as pets.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

Thank you so much

I would say take her to a vet. To me it looks like dead tissue. If that is true it would kill her without amputation.
I had a chick who had an accident that tore almost the whole toe off. When I saw that the bone was severed I just cut the remaining flesh. It did really well afterwards. Now this toe is still attached fully and I would not want to cut that. That's why I would take her to the vet.
Good luck to the little one!!
