I have lost two pigeons in 5 days, one was a 6 month old Pouter and today I lost a 2 month old German Homer, I am not sure what they are dying from, maybe a virus or something?

I'm sorry about your birds.

What were the symptoms, how new were they to the flock?

All of my birds came from the same source but I got them at two different times, the Pouter I have had for a month or so and just died 5 days ago and the German Beauty Homer was only a couple months old and was still a bit of a squeaker, always trying to cuddle up with its parents but flew and ate fine.

I do have them in a mostly open enclosure, it is wood on the south and east sides but we have had frosting temps and winds out of the north, do I need to build an actual enclosure in their coop instead of just letting them sleep on the nesting shelves? I was told they are hardy birds and do not need a "dog house" type enclosure to get into that they just need to be out of the wind and rain and snow

Pigeons Need To Be Protected From The North And East Sides Cold Wind From These Directions Are The Worst . My Loft Is Open On The West And South Sides. A Cover To Protect From The Rain And Snow Also . Feeding Extra Corn Would Help The Birds Generate Body Heat . Good Feed As Pigeon Feed Or Layer Pellets Would Also Be Good These Are The Essentails For Good Health Along With Clean Water. With Out Much To Go On It Will Be Hard To Give Good Advice Has What The Birds Dyed From.
