Help. I have 2 polish chicks that are acting very lathargic and sickly. They stopped eating unless I force feed them. One chick is gasping for air a lot and very congested, I can hear the mucas in her when she gasps. The other chick just keeps shivering and is very lathargic. I am force feeding them sugar water and mixed it with their food, that got them to start eating a little bit. Please help with diagnosis and any tips on how to help

I see that you posted an identical thread yesterday. It is helpful to update you thread, staying on the one, and asking for more help if you are not getting answers you need. Where did the chicks come from—a hatchery, a breeder, or did you hatch them? Have they been exposed to other chickens either directly or by you? It sounds like they might have symptoms of a respiratory disease. Are they having runny poops? Coccidiosis may also be a problem. Here is the other thread:

I got them from a breeder, and theyve been with me for about a week now, they were with my ayam cemani and ameraucana chicks, howevee i seperated them. They had runny poop at first but now its normal. I treated them with corrid when i first got them. And one is sneezing

Is your hot box clean? Do you change the bedding daily? Gasping and sneezing could be a sign of Aspergillosis. If your box is clean and dry, then maybe something was wrong with the breeder. You need to keep them warm and dry. Don't force them to drink either (unless you dip their beaks in the water). Chickens actually share their esophagus with the tunnel to their stomach. If you force water down their throats, they can drown. I'm not sure if it's the same with food, but be careful, and good luck!

2 of my polish chickens have died at different times each quiet mysteriously. Both of them stopped eating for a few days and then died. It was very weird because I have got 6 other chickens (all different breeds) and none of them died. so I think that its the breed.

Update: I put them inside seperated from other chicks, and put them on VetRX, they are doing much better, one of them is healed and behaving normally now, while the other one still has a mild sneeze but is eating and drinking normally again.

Ive learned and heard that polish are very delicate birds and can die very easily, it happens, if u notice any unusual behavior try to act upon it immedietly so they have a better chance at survival
