#1 How big do BO cock's spurs get?

#2 Would you suggest removing them? Would he be less able to protect himself (and his flock) without them?)

Thank you!

I wouldn't worry about it. I had an RIR roo that was a little agressive- he'd try to jump on your back if you weren't looking. Regardless- he never hurt anyone- just scared them. I don't plan on doing anything with any of my roos spurs.

Well, if it were just me, I wouldn't think too much about it, but we have younger kids and don't want a mean old roo attacking them.

ETA: Not that Mr. Incredible (our roo) has shown any signs of aggression.

He's a sweetie, though a little shy and awkward.

Lots of people do remove the spurs.....without dire consequence. I am told flour works as a styptic. Personally, I have never removed spurs & have not had a problem, even when my children were very small.
I am told a piece of lead behind the ear is a very good cure for aggressive cocks.
