Hi all, I hatched 7 araucana eggs eleven and a half weeks ago. Two and half weeks ago, 3 of them started crowing and I had to rehome them (like many, I can't keep roos). Since then I have not heard any 'Good Morning Sun' wakeup calls. I have been getting up at 5 every morning to listen. This morning I was late bringing breakfast and at about 6:40 I heard a loud 'call.' It was not like the definite cock-a-doodle doos I had heard before. And of course it came from my absolute favorite. Someone said hens will 'crow' if there are no roos around. Is that true? Here's pictures of the two I am hoping are not going to have to go live somewhere else.

The BBR in front is definately a girl. It's the tufted black behind her I'm worried about. 2 roos or not 2 roos?

Looks a tad roosish. [IMG] I would wait and see if they crow first.

Sorry, but there is no denying it, definitely two roos.
