I have 2 roosters- a sussex mix & a barred rock mix, that are on need of a new home. They were dumped in a residential area near me back in March. I have since got them back up to healthy weights, got their feathers to fill back out & have seen no signs of disease or any health issues. They are both gentle with my hens & though the barred rock does occasionally chase the sussex around & can get pushy with my ducks, neither of them are overly aggressive & have never showed any signs of aggression towards any people. The barred rock crows constantly but it is a muffled- almost a raspy sounding crow & the sussex rarely crows but when it does, anyone within 15 miles is hearing that thing. I have 6 laying hens coming out of the brooder soon & I just don't have room for the roosters too & I hate to have put the time & money into getting them healthy, to just turn around & butcher them. They can go together or separate. Located in Michigan's SE UP.
