2 Roosters Need Homes - Alvin, Tx

Pidgey is a fast one. In order for me to catch him. I have to have the dog pin him down. She never hurts them just makes him lay on the ground until I can catch up. If he fights back my dog will immediately back down and just sit. Pidgey’s got her trained!

He’s done well with the cold weather. And is always able to escape the hawks and owls. His pretty much like ‘I’m the best there is! Just try me.’ kind of guy.
So to be clear your RIR is the only one I would have any interest in, the Brahma is too heavy for my flock, we are both still talking the same language right?

The reason I am asking is I can assume a 2x weight difference might be ok when he mounts my gals but I would never put a bowling ball on their backs.

You are correct. Pidgey is the RIR. Named after a Pokémon.

ETA: OMG blowing ball hahaha

Hey what can I say when my hens mature at 4.5 pounds it isn't reasonable to pair that with a 16 pound rooster. A Brahma would be just that a bowling ball!
Regardless, hold on to me as a plan B for Pidgey! Since you aren't in a hurry and Corpus seems a good meeting spot for us. I do not want to put him through the stress and delays of the mail. Corpus is a 2 hour drive for me each way and I suspect it is the same for you. I am open to taking him in just I want you to know he will have all the feed he can eat and all the forage he wants I have a fenced in lot of only 1 acre but it is pretty productive, also I have a vegan wife who won't ever let me eat him. During winter we have 9 species of raptors who move here from the north and during summer 3-4 that come from the south. This isn't an easy place for a chicken to make a living but since he is a heritage breed he should do just fine.

The Dogs we have here know a hawk from a chicken but my wife usually calls them back before they are allowed to kill them. That is her philisophy, I personally am happy to see a hawk torn up by my domestic animals for legal reasons.

Only 1 rooster now needs a home!

Light Brahma, Big Waddles. He is sweet, will eat out of your hand and let you hold him.

Keep in mind Brahmas are huge; can get up to 2 ft tall and weigh up to 18 lbs.

My husband found a home for the RIR. Thank you being our backup though!
I am so happy you found him a home! Best wishes with rehoming the Brahma!

---edit---
To be honest when I told my wife what I had committed to she was not pleased with me but I was committed to the arrangement we had discussed. She just spat a tiny bit of venom at me when I told her your news, but is happy to have delayed my next roo. :lau

Also when I told her we can use my Texas Veterans Land Board benefits to try to shrink the ranch behind us so we have room for her donkeys/mules/horses.....well I fed her addictions.

Especially when I told her borrowing 40k over 30 years is a nothingburger financially when it is a 30 year note, vs the new Jeep financed over 4 years. I think our largest expense would be painting keep out purple on the fence posts! That plus putting up new fenceline.
