I have a 2 roosters. One came from the breeder with my order. Does that mean it's a sibling? This rooster is also trying to mate the ducks?

Splash Americana

The other rooster I bought before I knew they sent me a roo with the batch of hens. He is not doing his job. He struts and keeps them fine. But he isn't mating them? Blue Americana

What is going on? Do I take the Blue out and cage him and see if the other will mate the hens? But then how do I know if it's a sibling.. I would think from a hatcher that it's just a mix of eggs from many different hens. Do I leave them?

Help, I need my hens mated so I can incubate especially in the spring!
What do you think I should do?
Thanks

Chances are he's related to all of them from the breeder. I would not worry much about the first generation. I am surprised that the blue is not mating at all. Check for the bulls eye on the egg yokes.

I will check for the bulls eye! You think it's ok for 1st generations to mate without problems? i thought it caused all sorts of problems?
Thanks for your suggestions.

The chances of a bad gene reinforcement is higher then an unrelated parring, and it gets higher with each generation. I think that the first generation is an acceptable risk. If the blue is doing his job so much the better.

Ok so I checked eggs and saw a few bullseyes. But I have the 2 roosters in there. Is it true it takes 2 weeks for them to be fertile free, per say? So if I take out the one rooster to figure out if the blue one is mating in two weeks if he is there would be the "eye" but if it's all the younger splash rooster they wouldn't have any "eyes"..

I have the opportunity to get a new roo for free.. wondering if I just do this to solve all my issues?

Breeders usually wait three weeks to be sure the rooster with the hens is the father. Even then sometimes there is an odd chick. By two weeks the fertility is dropping fast.

I have six 2 yr olds still laying, 12 that will start any time, 17 who are to lay in Nov.!
Maybe I should get rid of mine and get this other one as to save myself any issues.
Hmmm that's to bad the one who might be a sibling is beautiful. Oh, well what's best for my girls is top priority
