2 shell less eggs could they be from the same chicken and is this bad?

I have two barred rocks that have been laying eggs in the nest box for a couple of weeks they are small but normal. Last night when I went to close the coop I found two shell less eggs on the floor would the same chicken lay both of them and does this mean anything bad or just starting and is normal? I am guessing it was one of my buff orpingtons.

For new layers, it's not that uncommon. Any little bit of stress or illness could cause that as well, but since your flock is just ramping up, I'd say to just keep an eye on them. It's unlikely that the same chicken laid two eggs in the same day. It can happen, but it's very rare. Make sure they are getting the proper amount of calcium, too.

Yup. What the PP said. But it could be the same layer. Without watching it's hard to know for sure. With fewer hens it's easier to tell. With 2 new on the scene it's going to take a couple days to sort out who is laying what. But I'd say soon you'll know because chances are at least one will lay a hard shell soon. It's normal for it to sort itself out fairly quick.

I've just found my first shell-less egg today - on the patio of all places. It would be from my silkie, and it would be her first egg. Her hatch-mate started laying 6 days ago, and we've had 6 eggs from her - both are fed exactly the same layers pellets, have oyster shell in their grit and live in the same house, so i'm hoping it's a one off.

I got two eggs like normal during the day in the nest boxes then found the two shell less ones on the floor together when I shut the coop, maybe two of them started laying on the same day and they were both shell less but the other two never had a shell less one and since they already laid their eggs that day I know it wasn't them. I have three other chickens it could be but none of them even have big waddles or combs so I wasn't expecting any more eggs yet.

So, What's the word? Did you get more of them? Or was it a one time thing?

Well, this morning I went out and there were two more shell less eggs, one very squished but not broken. They were at the other end of the roost on the floor again. I am pretty sure that the same chicken laid them both both times. I also think she may have been sitting on the roosting bar when she laid them and that the first one gets broken/squished when the second one lands on it!!

What would the chances be of my three pullets that were not laying two started the same day, both layed shell less eggs in the same spot on the floor and then 2 days later they do the same thing only at the other end of the coop? I just have to think one chicken is doing this. I am attatching some pictures. I am pretty sure it would be the middle chicken. She has the biggest waddle and comb. I really didn't think any of these girls were ready to lay because their combs and waddles are som small.
