I check the date it was manufactured Feb 2018
I think she could have been hurt when my daughter moved her from indoor brooder to outdoor brooder as we do in fine weather so they can be outside in the sun and on the grass and dirt. My daughter moved her and said she jumped and fell on her side

The hocks look red and swollen to me. You mention in the first video that she seems to be in pain. She does seem to be in distress.

As to the cause of the redness/swelling, it would be hard to know, but personally I don't think all of it is due to walking on the hocks. She may have an infection in the joints or slipped tendon which can sometimes look red and swollen.

See if she improves by being in the sling. Get some vitamins into her and see how it goes.

I would get a fresh bag of chick starter. What you have is 6months old, try to find a bag that is less than a couple of weeks old if possible.

Personally, I don't see anything that looks like Avian Encephalomyelitis (epidemic tremors), but that's me - there is a good video of that in the following link https://www.merckvetmanual.com/poultry/avian-encephalomyelitis/overview-of-avian-encephalomyelitis

Wyorp Rock and coach723, thanks a lot for your advice. I am glad it doesn't look like epidemic tremors.

She is very distressed now if I move her. Now she hates the sling. I tried resetting the tendons again and couldn't get anything to move like in the video. I could straighten her leg and she tolerated that well but if I put much pressure on the joint to push the tendons she is clearly in pain. Poor baby. She's scared of me now.

I tried making three different slings but she only sits still for a short time then flapped and writhes to get loose.

I did get her to take some vitamins.

do I just keep trying to straighten her legs to prevent the tendons from shortening? How important is the sling? Seems bad to have her sitting with them tucked up. Maybe I can figure out a different design she will like better.

:hugs I'm sorry.

Try the chick chair that Eggcessive suggested and see how it goes.

Just an update. I made a chick chair out of a yogurt container and she will sit in it for awhile but eventually flaps out. She is trying to walk around on her hocks and using her wings and head and seems to be getting better at it but her legs are twisting now. I am thinking about euthanizing her as her legs seem to be getting worse. I can't imagine how she will live a good life with bent legs. She's desperate to be with the other chicks and will only be consoled if she can see them. Thank you so much for all your help. I really hope it isn't anything contagious.
