I just aquired 4 barred chickies. I have absolutely no idea what they could be. Combs are all the same and a bit too late to feather sex but I heard the white spot on the head may indicate the sex/ Help please!

Thanks!

HI Juliechick
I am new to chicks (and ducklings). How did you tell? I have four barred rock chicks. 3.5 weeks. Here is a pic of two. Is it the top of the head colouring I am looking at?
Thanks

Check out the album in my profile about Barred Rocks. You can see how mine progressed from chicks to pullets and a cockerel.

I agree with the post previous, appear to all be pullets. Roosters combs mature faster than pullets in most cases, by two to three weeks of age you can definatley tell.

Thank you everyone!:) They are about 2 weeks old and still looked the same. The lady said she thought the white spot meant there roos so I was very worried. So I most likely have all 4 hens then! That would be a relief :)

And i checked out your album Olivesmamma and they are very pretty girls:)

dsfrango, I'm wondering if your chicks are Barred Rocks at all. They look more like Cuckoo colored. Here is a pic of a BR cockerel and pullet. If they are not really barred, then we could be wrong about the sex.
