I got a defective chick from the store her sister grew really big but this one was a pain, recently she just broke her neck yesterday. Walks flaps and eats and lil and drinks a lil. Her neck is tilted back looking at me backwards and it’s like TIGHT, won’t straighten out. I tried to do a toilet piece of paper brace but didn’t work she is still looking back. What will be a good brace to make to make her head hold forward a bit? She is 2weeks but very little looks like a 3 day old chick

I'm sorry to hear about your chick's situation. A backward-tilting neck in chicks can be due to several factors, such as a developmental issue, injury, or even a condition like wry neck (torticollis), which is sometimes caused by nutritional deficiencies (like lack of Vitamin E or Selenium), head trauma, or even an infection.
You could try to make a gentle neck brace to help her hold her head in a more natural position. Here’s how you might approach it:

Materials Needed:

  • Soft cloth or gauze
  • A small piece of lightweight foam (for comfort)
  • A small band or tape (to secure it)
  • A small piece of soft padding (like a cotton ball or soft cloth) for cushioning around the neck

Steps:

  1. Create a gentle support for the neck: Cut a piece of soft cloth or gauze to create a small "collar" that wraps around her neck without being too tight. You can add a small piece of foam or padding to the inside for extra comfort.
  2. Positioning: Wrap the cloth gently around her neck and secure it with a band (but don’t make it too tight). The goal is to keep her head from tilting backward while still allowing her to move a little and be comfortable.
  3. Adjust for balance: The key is to make sure that the brace doesn’t restrict her ability to move, eat, or drink. It should just keep her head from looking backward.
  4. Monitor her closely: Once you’ve applied the brace, monitor her to make sure she can still eat and drink comfortably, and that it’s not causing her more stress.
In addition to the brace, make sure she has access to a balanced diet with extra nutrients. You might consider adding a Vitamin E and Selenium supplement to her food, as these are often helpful in cases of wry neck.
If her condition doesn’t improve, or if she starts showing other symptoms, it could be a good idea to consult a vet to check for any underlying conditions.
Hope this helps and she starts feeling better soon!

Your chick might be sufferin from wry neck, which is ususally caused by a vitamin deficiency. Vitamin B complex and vitamin E can help.

Here is how to treat it:
