You're probably thinking, "Two weeks is too soon!" And you may well be right.

And you're probably also thinking, "Even Leghorn pullets have large combs." That's very true.

But this is getting awfully pink, my BYC friends. So. Very. Pink.

This is Cayenne, from the pullet Leghorn bin at TSC.

And this in direct comparison to Saffron here, from the same bin.

If it's still too soon to tell, lemme know, and I'll sit down and be quiet for another few weeks.

Lol. Likely a male you got there! Take him back to get a female - I think you can do that at TSC.
No, I'm good. I have enough females for him and my other rooster (I think, I hope), and I'm moving them to an even bigger foraging area before Cayenne here is ready to go outside.

I have 11 hens now, plus Saffron, and 6 more coming in May. 18 hens and 2 boys might be ok. Worst case scenario, I can rehome one/give one away.

Oh yes, definitely depends on the male. I had to keep 1-30 AND have saddles for my girls. One of the reasons I finally decided I was done with Nugget. He over mates like crazy…AND he’s a big guy.

Wowzers! I just hope to have a good rooster some day. I have a Sebright right now who is 1lb of pure attitude. I'm hoping to handle this one differently in an effort to keep him good and respectful. You know - be a little more hands off and business-like.

But if I find there's a problem, I'll keep the better of the two. I've hung on to my current lil guy because he's good to my ladies, can't really hurt me, and I feel kinda responsible for him.

I am lucky to have Lucas. Not only is he smaller, he is also such a gentlemen. Yes, no need to handle them often, that’s what I did with Lucas and he is PERFECT. I wish you the best of luck!
