2 Week Old Pekin Ducklings Loosing Feathers?

She IS yellow, (a beautiful blonde with not-so-bushy locks?) and her one other buddy is 2 weeks old. They are still in a brooder most of the day, but I think they have enough room. They are usually snuggly, I haven't seen them pecking each other. They have a water dish to play in, and they sure do!
Thanks for the reassurance! I'll stop worrying about her then- as she seems fine otherwise! Thanks so much!
Of course you know you have to post pics so we know your legit

Thanks Miss Lily! :).
So today my little blonde duckling looks even worse- they back of her neck is completely bare, and her back just looks awful. Is she still within normal feathering patterns? Could she have mites? she seems happy.... ? Any advice is SO much appreciated!

Are you sure the other duckling isn't nibbling on her? that doesn't look right. and take her where you can look her over real good, under good lightening mites are tiny lil blk things look like tiny pepper flakes running all over. Have you been giving them bath time? lice will be stuck on the feather shaft and look like rice.

All right! it's been a few days and the blonde duckling seems to look much better- thank goodness! I looked her over carefully earlier and couldn't see black flecks or mites... and today she has fuzz on her neck, and her back looks a little better.
Thanks for the help!

I'm happy to hear this, and a question, what is she with is she with chicks or just another duckling?

Yes! I'm glad to see some fuzz on her too!
We have three 5 week old chickens, one 3- week old duck (the one that's having feather issues- her original buddy died), and a two week old duck. They were all together, until I put the chickens in a heated coop outside,(2 weeks ago, the same time I got the 2nd duck-which is black)
Since the yellow duck was looking better and it was warm I put the ducks out with the chickens yesterday. I think they had missed each other. But- her balding was just while with the other duckling. She still looks good today also.
What should I be keeping an eye out for? If the other duckling was/is pecking her- when does that become a problem? what should I do about it? Do the you think the chicks will peck her? I don't think they do at this point- but I guess they could.
Thanks!

Reason asking was another member was having same issue and we believe we figured out it was the chicks doing the feather defrocking, chicks will do this even more so than ducklings so I'd keep an eye on them to make sure the chicks aren't doing it. Ducklings don't move as fast as chicks either and chicks can actually injure very young ducklings pecking at them. Just best to be very observant at their young age.

Hi,
New to the ducky world.

Both of our 2 week old indoor Pekin ducklings are loosing their tiny yellow baby feathers on the back and side of their neck, near the side breast area. It's very noticeable when they are wet. They are with only each other when not running around the house. I've never owned a duckling before...is this normal?

Thanks,
