2 week olds dive bombing each other

Sit back and enjoy it, I find it rather amusing. None of mine have been hurt so far doing it, and it causes some laughter. I have two big dogs who play really rough. Never been in a fight, but sometimes people freak and think they are fighting. Animals are animals. People do it too. Just setting for their hierarchy.

Throw a little good quality bird seed in with them and they will stop for a little while

Its even more entertaining for them if you have their brooders lined with pine shavings.. Then they get to scratch for it

I just put my 3 wk old chicks (11 of them) in a 6'x10'x6' dog kennel converted to chicken run (reinforced on the inside with chicken wire/sunshade/roosts) for the first time today.
We had a warm day with a cool breeze. It was interesting to watch them: scratch, fly, challenge each other, lay down and spread their wings to enjoy the warm sun.
A few even went back into their brooder box (rabbit cage) from time to time.
I think the flying and challenging is just part of their natural development.

The "flock"

were rounded up and put back in the cage before the sun went down.
They are currently residing in my utility room.
I will be glad when they can stay outside for good.

I have four 3 week olds that are in a converted dog kennel with a second story. They climb the "ladder" to the next level and look over the edge to see who isn't paying attention, and then pounce on them!

They just have to find ways to amuse themselves.

Although it sounds like you already have your hands full with your human young'uns, I invite you to stir it up in the brooder!

Throw some carrots peels in and watch the melee'! They can't just eat, they have to race around looking for a hidey hole until someone snatches their prize and it all starts again...

I let mine out in their run at 4 weeks, and the vertical lifts were startling! Then, one would put her head down and rock it from side to side just prior to charging one of the others. Which would result in a vertical lift, followed by a head charge, and on and on...

Add what appears to be a neurological disconnect when they find a small sand pit and start thrashing?! Well it's a totally heartstopping movie!

I've started taking a thermos of coffee out in the mornings. It's better than meditation!!!

Fun to read all of this. I came here searching because my (I HOPE) "girls", are doing all of these behaviours.
They are so fun to watch. I have been worried that since they are doing this so aggressively and frequently, that I'm
going to find out I have Roos. That would be sooooooooo bad!!! I am not allowed to have those in the city limits.
Glad that the girls do it too.

Mine are doing the same thing. I call it "Chicken Fight Club"...mostly b/c if I come to see what they are doing and they spot me, they stop - like they don't want me to know what they are doing. Man do they make a ruckus.
