first hen luna was killed because my boyfriend forgot to lock the chicken coop, then just 9 days later dahlia was in the coop locked up and im figuring the same animal, most likely a fox came back and got dahlia, we shouldve put dahlia and ruby in the garage till we made 100 percent sure the coop was safe, just having a really hard time getting past this....we got 3 new 9 wk old hens and they are in garage with ruby, boyfriend built a wood hutch that locks that will got in the reinforced coop, so it will be a double layer......im am not sure when i will be ready to put them all down in the coop again, still so haunted by what happened, has anyone else been thru anything similar, please help, michelle

It can be very traumatic when things like this happen and having these feelings is natural. It may help you to push through your doubts if you were to post some photos of the new, improved setup so that we can give it a second look and either assure you of the security or make some suggestions that you can take and apply before putting the birds back into it so you feel more secure doing so.

Hi and welcome to BYC - but sorry that it is not under better circumstances that you join us.

Some good advice above, although posting on this forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance may be more appropriate. The only reason I suggest this is that, I personally unsubscribe to all threads that I post on here in New Members Introductions, so I'd miss your responses here. I'm not sure if other regular greeters do the same - I'm assuming they do. But what the heck, why not post your pics here and on the link I gave
