Hi y’all! One of my baby chicks is sneezing, breathing with her beak open, and every time she takes a breath there’s a clicking sound. Since she started the other chicks have been sneezing. What do I do????

Can you tell us their age and where you got them? Sneezing can have an environmental cause, such as dust in the feed or the bedding, mold, and water spills in the brooder which will quickly mold. Look for any air under the skin on the chick that is clicking. My chick once had a leaking air sac from a hard bump, and it cause a balloon-like leak under the skin. A respiratory disease might also be the cause, and that is usually from exposure to older chickens who are carriers of a disease. Can you see any bubbles or foam in the eyes of the sick chicks?

Thank you so much for the reply! They’re 3 weeks old and I got them from our local feed store. I changed out the bedding the other day, the top was dry but the bottom was wet. We’re using hay. I didn’t feel any pockets but I’m not exactly sure what I should be feeling for. Where would the pockets be?
they haven’t been exposed to older chickens since I’ve had them, but they did meet a couple day-old ducklings.
