20 hens to 5 roosters?

There is no way Tanner my speckled sussex is going. This bird loves me. The recent Silver lace wyandotte was super aggressive. My wife I think was actually happy the hawk got him. I liked him though. The Little tiny bantam. So cute. Probably weighs 10 ounces. I'll try and take some pictures and show you all. The 3 golden wyandottes are georgous. I would love to keep one. Man that's three. one rooster to 10 to 12 hens is the rule of thumb correct? Well I have to go get more

Not always. Some people have good luck with smaller nimbers. Just depends on how the flick is divided if at all and each male's personality

I so feel for you having to re-home some roosters! They sure can grow on you and each has their own special spot in your heart!

Your hens may help educate these cockerels, which is a good thing.
I hope you aren't misinterpreting this behavior from the SS cockerel; time will tell. These boys are starting to mature, and you will know more over the next few months. Do cut down on numbers though!

I will say that my little Sebright Bantam cockerel went from following me around and coming up to the house to be around me to attacking everyone real fast! I totally misjudged him as being friendly when in fact he was just gearing up to take over our house.. (dramatic, yes)..
I just got rid of him yesterday and already the tension in the coop and house is gone.

All I can say is a friendly rooster is just like a friendly a hen, their just normal nothing is odd about it.So any of those other “odd, but I think friendly” behaviors or movements he does are probably aggression.Hope everything goes well.

That number isn't set in stone. It really depends on the temperament of the roosters/cockerels. You can try keeping 3 cockerels, but you have to closely watch your flock. Are the boys constantly fighting, are they over mating the ladies, are the hens/pullets hiding from them....watch for things like that. Also the entire mood of the flock, do they seem happy and relaxed, or do they seem uptight tense and flighty. If you spend time with them you can decide if the boys you have are a good fit or not. :)
