Im so anxious to get my first egg that I may be over thinking this... I’ve watched all the videos I could find on what to look for when hens are ready and they are showing some of the signs. My two silver Phoenix hens are doing a loud screaming and both have dark red wattles and combs now. My rooster, a WC polish, keeps mounting them and they have been making “nests” in the nesting box. Do you all think I will see an egg soon? (Added a photo of one girls dark red comb and wattles)

they have been making “nests” in the nesting box.
This, IME, is the sign that happens closest to actually laying.
The rest can happen several week in advance and finding an egg.
The noise can be insane..I call it the the 'Raucous Cacophony'.
Had a group of pullets one year that made so much noise I had to close my windows to work on the phone.
