When I was at work, my mom ended hitting one of my cockerels over the head with a broom because he tried flogging her. They said this happened around 10am and they left him under a tree and put a branch over him so the other roos wouldn’t pick on them. That’s about the extent of care they did. I got home around 2pm and he was still laying there. We don’t have a vet near that will look at chickens, so I don’t know what to do. It’s 9pm and he still hasn’t moved ( I did bring him inside and put him down in the basement) nor does it seem like he has pooped at all. He can move his legs some but will just fall over if you try to set him down on his feet.
Has limited movement in his neck and mostly keeps it tucked/scrunched in close to his body. Makes a few noises when I pick him up, but just stares at me and lays on his side otherwise.

It’s 9pm now and improvements seem...very few and slow-coming.

Oh no! He may have a concussion. All you can do is supportive care. Give him some electrolytes in his water and make sure he drinks.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention he won’t eat or drink. I tried offering him some food in my hand and he wouldn’t take it. He won’t bother with water either. What do I do then?

You can try carefully giving him drops of water into his beak with a syringe. Not too much at once or he will aspirate. Put him in a quiet, dark place with as little stimulation as possible.

not much of an update, but since you were the only one to offer advice, i figured you’d appreciate it. he’s still down, but it seems like he’s starting to respond more. foghorn is able to move both legs ( the right a little less than the left ) and grasp with his feet when i touch the bottom of them with my finger. he started moving his wings some for the first time today when i was feeding him, too. he still can’t eat or drink on his own, but he does both seemingly enthusiastically when they hit his tongue and he realizes it’s there.

he’s able to kick out and scoot himself a little across the floor. here’s to hoping he recovers fully

That's great news! I hope he keeps improving! He can have 1 baby aspirin or 1/4 adult aspirin once a day for pain. See if it makes a difference.

Sounds like he has broken some bones. He must have been beaten quite bad. Have you given him any painkillers?
no, im not sure what you can and can’t give chickens. i didn’t want to accidentally poison and kill him. he could have something broken, but i don’t know. my mom told me she didnt know where she hit him exactly or how hard. he’s still keeping his neck tucked/scrunched in but is moving it to look up some now. he’s just not extending it out all the way.

Poor baby. I'm really rooting for him. Definitely try the aspirin. Are you syringe feeding him?
