This!

He must be in terrible pain. Chickens are prey animals and hide their suffering so if he cannot move or move much then he is very badly injured. Maybe it is just bruising but it sounds more serious given your description. I'm not sure what else you can do. Maybe check him over carefully by feeling all over him and see how he reacts to your touch. You might be able to locate the injury. If its ribs, pelvis or neck there isn't much you can do except make him comfortable. Wings and legs can be splinted.
i’ve tried feeling around his body and neck, but he didn’t really react to any of my touches. though, i figured that’s because of him possibly having a concussion. i asked my cousin who is a big chicken person too and he said all i could do now is provide supportive care and wait it out to see if he improves or not.

Yes. Definitely supportive care. Even if he has broken bones, with the location there is nothing you can do. Pump electrolyte water into him and keep him quiet will be your best bet. You can give him baby food via syringe also. Scrambled eggs in his beak like you have been doing with the food crumbles. Tube feeding is also an option. You are wonderful and doing amazing. Hang in there! :hugs

I hope he recovers.

Just don’t be too upset with your mom. Roosters can really hurt someone with their spurs and I’m sure your mom did not mean to intentionally injure him but mainly swatted at him with the broom out of protecting herself.

I have 6 pullets and I care for their wellbeing and safety, but I would probably have done the same thing in an attempt to dissuade an unruley rooster from attacking me or someone else.
he doesn’t even have any spurs yet, they’re still nubs on his legs. he’s also not very aggressive towards anyone else — just her. i don’t know why he doesn’t like her.
i don’t know, im still a little upset at her because after she hit him, both her and my dad left him lay out in the yard for 3ish hours and didn’t bother to help him beyond covering him with branches so the others wouldn’t pick on him. i can home from work and found him laying in the yard.

That's a really hard thing to forgive. Honestly I would be furious that I didn't get a call immediately. Unfortunately many people just don't see it the same way and all you can do is move forward. I feel for you!

I am not even gonna lie, I probably would have hit my mom with the broom. >_> I am glad this bird has someone who loves him and wants to save him. Poor guy.

okay, so, my cousin came over for a surprise visit and said that foghorn needed to be up in a sling instead of laying on his side because it reduces his chances of getting pneumonia. well, my brother and I found an old hand towel and made one. is there any tips or ways to improve it to make it more comfortable for him?

yeah, the bad thing is i had even messaged her around 1 something during a break at work to ask her something. they have a habit of waiting. they waited for a whole week to tell me raccoons had killed my ducks while i was staying at college.

luckily there’s a feed store on the way home from college, so i remembered to stop and pick up electrolyte mix for chickens. it has some vitamins in it too, so i figured that would help him out as well. right now he’s in the ‘vault’ ( precious owners of the house made this fireproof room to store the important documents and whatnot ) where the safes are in the basement. it stays dark and pretty quiet. anyways, he’s eating pretty well when i put the food in his mouth, so i don’t think he needs to have a tube in just yet.
