Glad to find this thread...thanks for the excellent documentation @lilbeastpdx .....I too have a crowing 22wk pullet.
She crows after the rooster early in the morning, not after every one of his crows and not every day.
Haven't ID'd which bird yet, but there's definitely no cockerels out there, they were all shipped off a couple months ago.

your birds are ADORABLE! :)

But one did get out a crow of some sort? Loudly? Yeah, I'm hoping that is what is going on here. Out of 12 birds, I've had 8 roos. What are the chances?!?! I think mine looks nothing like a rooster, but the crow noise this morning really threw me off.
I have found that the chances of getting a rooster increases proportionately with the desire to NOT have any!

Haha, I noticed that. We were actually wanting roos last year and only got 3 out of the 15 eggs that hatched. Always next year, I guess.

I have a Dark Cornish hen that is broody for a second time this year and am tempted to set eggs under her again. She hatched only pullets the first time...

In trying to ID this bird by sneaking out early in the morn when she was sounding off.
I now suspect that my second crower is an older hen, NOT a pullet.
She stopped when I opened the coop door, but sound was coming from hen side of coop, not where pullets were roosting.
May never know for sure.

So that bird in question crowed again today. I took two videos so you could hear it in one, and see it in the other. She only crows after the actual rooster finishes crowing, and while the rooster crows throughout the day, I only hear her do this around 8am--until I open the coop and let them out. Should I wait? This bird has no wattles and her comb is still only pink. The feathering looks like a hen too.

I must admit i had a chuckle when I heard your chicken crow ... Did you finally figure if it was a he or she? I'm.playing a waiting game with my barred rock who has long tail feather but no males suckle next feathers . It's a waiting game that's giving me anxiety lol
