I don't plan on cleaning mine except if they are really icky and then just before using. I have been getting farm fresh eggs for over a year now and am used to semi-dirty eggs and we have not gotten sick. I like leaving the natural bloom on them. I buy loads of fresh eggs 1 time a month and they sit in my fridge for 4-6 weeks and are still great! (i did oodles of research on this) Also my research I came across that duck eggs could stay fresh longer because the extra thick shell. I am not sure how true that is but it makes sense. You can do the float test- put it in water....floats bad. Sinks half way or all the way...good to go.I always use my nose though. If it smell funkay- it be funkay! haha
Thanks!!To further this - brushing off the loose bits with a dry towel leaves the bloom intact. But a little dirt is no biggie.
